TECHNICAL CELL

Technical Cell of the Department of Official Language was established on 25th October, 1983.  The division is the Department’s interface with information technology in the implementation of Official Language policy.

The functions of the Division broadly are:-

(I)                Development of Software for increased use of Hindi in Central Government Offices, Nationalised Banks, Public Sector Undertaking’s etc.

(II)     Use of computers organising Computer training Programmes for use of Hindi at workplace for employees of Central Government Offices, Nationalised Banks, Public Sector Undertaking’s etc.

(III)  Organising Technical Seminars during Regional Conferences organised by Implementation Division, wherein companies of public and private sector showcase their Hindi software products and services.  The companies exhibit the product/service as well as give a presentation interacting with the users/organisations and discuss problems to provide solution to them.

Software Developed through C-DAC, Pune by the Department of Official Language

1.              LILA(Learn Indian Languages through Artificial intelligence) software for learning Hindi of Prabodh, Praveen & Pragya standards through English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, Assamese, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Nepali, Kashmiri and Gujarati mediums on world wide web.

2.      MANTRA (MachiNe Assisted TRAnslation) for translating official correspondence documents of Union of India from English to Hindi in Administrative, Finance, Agriculture, Small Scale Industries, IT and Healthcare domains.  MANTRA is available in two versions with MS SQL and MX SQL as backend.

3.                 SHRUTLEKHAN  software for dictating in Hindi.  It is a speech to text system available with its own editor as well as system tray to plug-in to word etc.
